Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the One-Off and Subscription plan?
If you are a business or an individual interested in investing in your online presence, your budget is tight, and you want a dedicated support to go along side with you during your growth journey, our subscription plan is perfect for you! Our 12 months minimum contract is made to support all your project needs and make sure the product we build is exact what you need. You will have preferential access to our add-ons for a minimal cost, you may be elegible to get innovative new features for no cost, constant improvements, call us anytime and we will respond, as many edits and changes as you need, and put down $0 during the our first month working together. If you decide you want to not extend our contract once completed, you will keep your website domain and domain based email, though the website goes with us, being automatically deactivated once the hosting expires. This means, the website will still operate but without support from our side meanwhile the hosting annual payment still on.
On the other hand, if you are after a complete control and ownership of your website when completed, we recommend our One-Off plan! A single budget is established and three payments will be arranged; the first one (25%) once you signed the contract with us, the second one (50%) when the design is approved by you (half of the development process), and the last bit (25%) when the implementation is signed of and just before releasing to LIVE and transferring to you or to whoever you instruct us. The intellectual property of the project will be granted to you so you can keep introducing your edits as you please. If you require our support after trasnfering the project, you can contact us and we will make an estimate per hour based on complexity and time required, similar as we operate under a contracting job.
The One-Off plan is a one-time payment for a single project you will control and be responsible after implemented. You are free of taking it to any direction you would like, implement your own features or hiring others to introduce the changes for you. The Subscription plan offers ongoing support and updates for a monthly fee while the contract is still active. If you do not want to spend time learning to code or how to maintain a web solution and rather using it to work on your business, the Subscription plan is the best option for you.
Is it possible to switch from an One-Off to a Subscription Plan?
Yes, you can, but not right away. Opting for the One-Off plan means that you must acquire the intellectual property of the project first, which means we will estimate the cost of the project as an One-Off plan + 50%, and once paid, we will transfer it to you or to whoever you instruct us.
We commit as part of the transition, to be alongside with you on every step providing any training and support you need in order to onboard you smoothly, so you can be confident that you will be able to operate by yourself.
Once the project is transferred, you can still get in touch with us for additional edits, improvements and new features implementations. However, those will be quoted by time and complexity and billed hourly as you wouldn’t be into our Subscription plan anymore.
What happen to my website if I cancel my subscription?
No matter which plan you opt out, the website domain and email addresses are completely yours. If you decide to cancel your subscription with us and the domain name (billed annually) still active, then the website will still operative until the hosting expires. This means your clients will be able to visit your website and make use of all the features it contains, but only until the hosting expires. Once that happens, your website will be automatically disabled and unable to be found. We won't provide any further improvements or maintenance to your website unless you decide to sign up for another plan.
Regarding the code and the design, as the Subscription plan does not include the intellectual property, you can not take the project to someone else as it is protected by copyright. If you would like to do so, you need to transition from the Subscription plan and sign up to the One-Off plan.
How do Add-Ons work?
No matter which plan you have with us, One-Off or Subscription, you have access to a wide range of add-ons which enhance your website with additional functionalities such as dynamic content managed through a CMS, an e-commerce, booking systems, and many more. You can decide which add-ons you want to implement during the beginning of our development process, when we discuss your needs and how your clients will use your website.
Although, you can also decide later on to include an add-on. For example, if you decide it is the right time to expand your boundaries and sell your products online rather than only physically in your store, we can integrate the feature at any time. Or if you decide that the add-on is simply making your subscription more expensive and you would prefer to remove it, we can also do so and adjust your monthly fee.
Add-ons work exact the same no matter if you have a One-Off or Subscription plan with us. The main difference is the cost, and the payment type. Under a One-Off plan, you will pay a higher price for them, but only once. Meanwhile for a Subscription plan, the cost is way cheaper, and added the base subscription monthly cost.
Only with a Subscription plan will you receive improvements and maintenance for your selected add-ons. Additionally, you may be eligible to incorporate new add-ons without incurring extra costs. If you opt for the One-Off plan and require support, an hourly quote will be billed to implement the updates.
How is the development process? How do you get me involved and up to date?
To initiate the process, a meeting will be scheduled to discuss and gather your requirements, goals, and expectations. Following this, we will prepare the contract documents, which will clearly outline the project scope, deliverables, terms and conditions, and service-level agreements (SLAs) tailored to your specific needs. This will also include a definition of desired functionalities and integrations, along with a detailed quote covering design, copywritting, development, add-ons, and timelines.
Once you are satisfied with the documentation, a signature will be required to ensure transparency and security for both parties involved. At this stage, feel free to address any questions you have.
After the contracts are signed, we will issue the first invoice for the work undertaken. This invoice will either cover the subscription for the current month ($0) or require a 25% deposit for One-Off plans. If you are on a Subscription plan, subsequent invoices will be sent on the 1st of each month. For One-Off projects, a 50% invoice will be issued after you sign off on the site design, with the remaining 25% due before the site goes live.
Following this, we will provide you with a design questionnaire to gain insights into your design expectations, preferences, and any competitor websites you admire or want to avoid. This information will help us understand the content needed for the site. After you complete the questionnaire, we will share demo links to website designs that we believe would suit your needs, and we welcome your feedback on which designs resonate with you and why.
Based on your feedback and the questionnaire responses, we may agree on a design option. If your preferences exceed the initial offerings, we will engage our design team to build something unique for you. Once the design is completed, we will review it together to ensure it aligns with your vision and make any necessary adjustments. If desired, a copywriter will be enlisted to develop your content.
Once the design and content receives your approval, we will proceed with coding it. Upon completion, a demo link will be provided for your review and approval. After your approval, we will optimise all images and the website to achieve a score between 95-100, integrate analytics, and launch the site.
For Subscription plans, reaching this point signifies the completion of the project. For One-Off plans, any final payments will be invoiced before the site is released to a live environment.
Are you open to contracting opportunities?
Absolutely! If you're looking to hire me as the engineer and founder of Kurī Studio, I recommend selecting the Tailored Pro plan. This plan operates like any standard contracting agreement: we will establish a contract for a predetermined duration, and I will invoice you hourly under my company name.
Moreover, in line with our mission and vision, I collaborate exclusively with clients who share a commitment to partnership and prioritise the long-term advantages of software development. High-quality work demands both time and focused attention, and I'm here to ensure that standard is met.
Why 100% hand-coded websites are supirior to WordPress or website builders templates?
We build hand-coded websites mainly because they are built with only the necessary code, resulting in streamlined performance and faster load times. This optimisation not only enhances your users experience but also contributes positively to search engine rankings. Visitors appreciate speed, and a well-performing website can keep them engaged longer.
Security is another vital consideration. Our sites tend to have fewer vulnerabilities since they don’t include public login pages or the common weaknesses often associated with popular platforms. WordPress, for instance, is frequently targeted due to its widespread use; its reliance on various plugins can create multiple potential entry points for attacks. By choosing a hand-coded solution, we gain greater control over your site’s security and reduce the risk of issues arising from updates or unpatched vulnerabilities.
Furthermore, our hand-coded websites offer unparalleled flexibility. We can customise every detail to align perfectly with your brand’s goals and vision, avoiding the constraints that come with predefined templates. This level of control allows for a more personalised and engaging user experience, something that’s hard to achieve with standard website builders.
The quality of the code itself matters to us as well. Our projects are crafted by experienced professionals who maintain clean, maintainable code. This stands in stark contrast to the messy, convoluted code often produced by templated solutions, which can complicate troubleshooting and scaling in the future. Clean code simplifies updates and helps us ensure that your website remains functional and relevant over time.
Another important aspect is the issue of dependencies. Hand-coded websites free us from the need to rely on plugins, licenses, or external platforms that require constant attention and management. With platforms like WordPress, you can find yourself tethered to their ecosystem, managing frequent plugin updates and compatibility challenges. Our sites, on the other hand, offer greater ownership and longevity, allowing us to manage your website without unexpected interruptions.
Lastly, a unique branding experience is best achievable with hand-coded websites. They allow us to create a design that reflects your business's true identity. In contrast, websites built on templates often struggle to stand out amidst competition, with many businesses utilising similar designs. The websites we build will help you establish a professional online presence that sets you apart from others.
All the avobe being said, if your business values performance, security, ownership, and a unique online identity, investing in a hand-coded website is worthwhile. The difference can be likened to choosing a tailored suit instead of something off the rack. Both serve their purpose, but one fits perfectly and represents your brand with excellence, paving the way for long-term success in a competitive environment.
