The story behind the studio

Kurī Studio was established by me, Maximiliano Chereza, a software engineer with over 15 years of experience in building software products and custom digital platforms.

I founded the studio in Nelson in late 2024 while working full-time at a startup focused on website builder technologies. At that time, I was living in Warwick House, a historic castle built in 1852. It provided an unusual environment that was quiet, filled with character, and deeply grounding. This atmosphere resonated with me and encouraged me to pursue a dream, shaping the early vision of what Kurī Studio could become.

Throughout my career, I have constructed full-stack systems from the ground up, often for large enterprises. This work has been complex, high-stakes, and technically demanding. However, it typically occurred behind the scenes, with minimal influence on product direction and limited connection to the business owners or the individuals whose daily tasks relied on the systems.

Over time, I realised the importance of recognising the significance of my outcomes and understanding the motivations behind their use. This connection is crucial for making a meaningful impact.

I desired to work more closely with real businesses, engaging with their decision-making processes and the practical realities of their operations. My goal was to create solutions that genuinely improve efficiency, rather than merely adding features to a product roadmap. I want to challenge outdated customs and highlight the problems that pseudo-productivity creates for organisations and teams. Kurī Studio became my way of doing this: a studio where software engineering is applied directly, thoughtfully, and with care.
